Yup, as I last wrote on July 22, I’m busy

There have been no shortage of subjects for me to yammer about since I gave a cursery view of July 22 that began with the poor crow that had gotten its claws tangled in the Ordean batting cage net.

In fact a number of events worthy of comment have taken place but I’ve turned my attention elsewhere in the conviction that yammering on could wait. Among the subjects I thought worthy of comment were the two union screenings I participated in that did not result in endorsements. I would have been beyond shock if they had. I was pleased that they both elicited smiles from the people grilling me. AFSCME let me wind myself up badmouthing the beast calling itself the Republican Party and with a minute left as I concluded by saying something to the effect my rant was over one bemused listener said something like “That’s more than enough.”

In the very fun interview by a new set of teachers for the DFT (Duluth Federation of Teachers) interview I got lots of smiles and some giddy laughing in particular by a couple sweet elementary teachers when I mouthed a nasty thing to say about Donald Trump. When I said they could probably “lip read” they both laughed heartily. I was also very pleased to be they candidate who spoke the least “educationese” when we talked to the entire group before breaking up into seven separate seven-minute sessions. My last such screening was in 2017 although I am not certain I was there. As I told the fellow who almost wouldn’t let me participate in this screening I hoped that if I should be elected I might be able to chat with Union leaders, which happened to be one of the things they requested of me through their questionnaire. I told him that for four years the Union president of that time who has gone on to being a statewide Ed Minnesota leader refused to have coffee with me despite my repeated requests.

I could write much more about this screening but I’m in a hurry.

Over the past couple weeks I’ve spent considerable time on two projects. I a flurry of Parts 1-4 posts on July 22 I mentioned my painting of my grandson’s bedroom with pictures. Last week I spent four days organizing 75 years of Glen Avon Church’s choir music.

I often tell people I am an agnostic member of our church choir. I have been for over 30 years. I am more of a fixture, curiosity and dependable supporter of Glen Avon Presby. (I’ve painted murals there also) Well, not officially being a member of a graying church which now typically seats 35 to 50 people in a sanctuary that I read hold 350 people whose to question a non member sorting through long forgotten music. (If we still had a choir that sang every sunday save Summer Sunday’s two anthems (say 75 anthems a year) it would take us a decade to go through ten file cabinets of somewhat chaotically organized music. Considering we have favorites we routinely sing that could never be accomplished…..PLUS: we only sing every-other-week now so make that two decades. Given all this my efforts to trim away 12-cent a piece music scores from the 1940’s is not that destructive.

Additionally my participation for the past several years on the “properties committee” have had me scaling ladders to repaint and replace windows, plant and trim shrubbery, take over carpet vacuuming when the custodian was out for medical reasons, repaint the parking lines on our back lot and most recently remove 60 years worth of stuff from our church kitchen as we remodel it to meet modern requirements.

Part of the remolding also required moving a row of stuffed file cabinets from a crammped fan room as the ventilation is brought up to code. When I helped remove the cabinets to the room next door where I painted on one of my murals I decided the roomier space just begged for me to sort through the music and update an ancient index which we could put on a spread sheet and update. The index had five different categories four of them for musical groups that have not sung together for forty years. Also, the Alphabetization is dodgy.

My Father’s Day travel for Lunch in Canada…

Books, Just read and an NY Times piece…

News. Trump’s tentacles and Newsmax broadcasting that there is no starvation in Gaza…

Jimminy! The word count is 737 and as you can see I have three more topics screaming in my head to write about.

And that doesn’t count saying something about my plans to start campaigning……maybe after a family trip to Orlando mid August.

Well, I feel better putting something on this blog which I have not gotten any feedback on for over a decade. I will add a short video on my campaign. Its my 3 and a half minute self introduction for our Public Access Cable Television:
