The four Cardinal Virtues are Temperance, Prudence, Justice, and Fortitude.
I’ve always liked cardinals and I’m glad global warming has brought so many to Duluth in recent years.
Here are definitions. I’d like to think that they fit me reasonably well and that my being animated and demonstrative do not in any way make these traits less applicable to me. They would be good traits to take to St. Paul.
Prudence – able to judge between actions with regard to appropriate actions at a given time
Justice – proper moderation between self-interest and the rights and needs of others
Restraint or Temperance – practicing self-control, abstention, and moderation
Courage or Fortitude – forbearance, endurance, and ability to confront fear and uncertainty, or intimidation
