No! Its not an April Fool’s joke.
The two hours I sat in on the city-wide PTSA council meeting this morning were eye opening. Parent reps on both sides of the Red Plan sit on the Council. They had a lot of questions for Dr. Dixon and they got their first peek at a chart outlining possible moves of students from school to school to accommodate the feverish Red Plan construction schedule. Its feverish because Dr. Dixon wants to get it all started before next falls’ election confirm the unpopularity of the Red Plan and gives him an antagonistic School Board.
Screw the poor kids Dr. Dixon. Don’t let them get in your way. The School Board says “Ditto.” Ooh! Did that sound a wee bit testy?
At the meeting the long time PTA activist and current chair of the city-wide PTSA Council told Dr. Dixon that if necessary he will enroll his children in Hermantown. Gene Rajanen has been a big supporter of Dr. Dixon and the Red Plan. Last year when I went to lobby the legislature for Mike Jaros’s bill to force a referendum on the Red Plan Mr. Rajanen sat next to Dr. Dixon when he asked the K-12 Education Committee not to support Mike’s bill.
