I once clipped an article on how Julius Caesar went about campaigning in ancient Rome. He sort of did it like a Hollywood star walking through town with his “posse.”
When I read the Anthony Everitt biography about Cicero I don’t recall reading about his brother’s advice on getting elected to a Roman consulship. Apparently, politics has changed very little over the years.
