Incels, Flowers and new lyrics for “Don’t Walk Away Renee”

I woke early to read and kept the news off until Donald Trump gave DAVOS participants his Maga campaign speech. I pitied them.

I was sent an email yesterday with a photo of my Renee Good. Someone had placed memorial flowers before her sculpture. A Facebook page showed a number of sympathetic comments and unsympathetic comments dancing on Renee’s grave so to speak. My thought was I could understand why incels are incels. The term stands for men who are “involuntarily celibate” because women don’t value them. But its hard to see how people posting gleeful remarks about a woman shot four times moments after smiling pleasantly and saying I’m not mad at you would ever find any woman’s favor. They are sourpusses squared and they support Donald Trump an man in their own image.

One person wrote a critique of the grave dancers. Someone else crafted an appropriate visual image to go with it and pasted the end of the commentary to it. I’ll show you both starting with an image of my sculpture and the flower arrangement that has probably the work of Google’s Arty AI associated with Gemini:

And here is the comment inspiring the image of the lethal snowman:

Finally I fondly remember the ambiguous song Don’t Walk Away Renee that was playing when I started high school. I usually hum a few bars when I meet anyone named Renee and they always know of the song.

Here are my lyrics:

You’ve flown away Renee
A play on “Walk away Renee” by The Left Banke

And then I saw the broken Pilot on the screen
As for humanity twas nowhere to be seen
You’ve flown away Renee
Only your spirit remains at home
The empty sidewalks all are echoing your name
You’re not to blame

From far and wide our tears
Ooh We can not hide
from deep inside the pain
Oh, can we abide?

You’ve flown away Renee
You won’t be returning to your home
As snow flakes fall their beauty
All honors you. To see you through

You’ve flown away Renee
You won’t be returning to your home
As snow flakes fall I’ll see that they
all honor you. All honor you.

You said you were not angry
You meant to sooth
We’re left to follow your example
as our truth.

You’ve flown away Renee
Only your spirit remains at home
The empty sidewalks all are echoing your name
You’re not to blame

I recorded the first verse without accompaniment on youtube….The Four Tops and the Left Banke are better singers.
