After jotting down a half page of to-do’s while lying in bed my brain to busy to get past page 501 of the best damned history of the American Revolution, I had a welcome revelation. There is a wide pathway for me to become a Congressman. It won’t be easy but in a few month’s time I could have a campaign that is unstoppable.
A. I have spent a lifetime preparing to become a shrewd and honest congressional representative in a time of Crisis.
B. I have spent the last four congressional campaign cycles preparing materials that can catch people’s interest.
C. I have spent almost 40 years becoming one of the best known characters in the largest city in the 8th Congressional District.
D. I’ve spent a quarter Century putting enough information about myself on the Internet so that my French pen pal got a rousing description of me in French about my fame in Duluth as a local snow sculptor. Artificial Intelligence may have a lot of slop but it would be interesting to see what others can find out about me by engaging with it.
E. America is desperate for someone, anyone, with original ideas. I have them in spades and I’ve imagined becoming a pied piper like Abe Lincoln with his determination, modesty and self deprecation. His law partner James Herndon said “His ambition was a little engine that knew no rest.” I understand that ambition. I also appreciate that he remained true to his nickname “Honest Abe.

Thursday January 15th I took the stage with five other candidates who hope to be the Democratic candidate for Congress. (I’m also on the Forward Party email list) I announced that unlike my previous 4 runs as a liberal Republican protesting the Trump Earthquake I will be running for the Democratic primary. Whether I win the Democratic party’s endorsement or not I will be on the primary ballot. In fact, I may to go to the GOP precinct caucuses to be a pebble in that Lincoln abandoning party’s shoes. Trump doesn’t have a monopoly on chutzpa only avarice and attention seeking.
If you want to see how I can pull this off up close and/or who think it would be a hoot to be a part of an improbable crusade send me an email at: harrywelty@Charter.net. (if this link doesn’t work just copy and paste the email address)
Taunt me. Ask me a question. Give me your contact info. I will be hosting get togethers to organize, brainstorm and reach out to the far ends of the Eighth Congressional District. It has a half million people. In a few month’s time it may be harder to have so much of my personal attention. Email me and I will be in touch.
Now I think I can go back to Fate of the Day.
