Woke up today and Claudia gave me the best advice. Look at Indivisible.org and she showed me her Bluesky account which I promptly joined.

I haven’t posted anything yet but already have two people who liked what they saw which to this point only has a link to this blog and a link to the articles I’ve written for the Duluth Reader.

Even before I hopped out of bed this morning I accomplished something. I finished the last chapter in Driven Out about the horror of our treatment of Chinese in America from their arrival here to mine gold in the 1850’s to the Era of the Chinese Exclusion Act a few years after my Grandfather was born before the turn of the next century. I still have an afterward to read. I began the book on May 8th, 2017 just before our trip to China.

I wrote in my self intro on bluesky that:

Well when I searched “driven out” to find my first mention of the book on Chinese persecution in my blog the first entry where I used the term driven out was in a 2012 post which mentioned who had been driven out of the Republican party. You can read it here four years before the Democrat, Trump, began cleansing the GOP of anyone who didn’t felate him. Is/are there one or two l’s in that word? BTW – Its two ls

More on that later

Finally, our lunch our TV watching which typically includes history, social commentary and the Great British Baking Show was consumed today with the Oscar nominated documentary Sugarcane about the horrific treatment of children in Canada and America Indian peoples stripping away their Indianness and showing the Chinese how to do the same with their Uighurs. Watching old people talk about seeing nuns incinerate newborn infants conceived by priests with innocent Indian girls made my blood boil. It reminded me of how Southern pols decided that abortion was a great issue to win over unthinking people in imitation of the issue of Abolition that turned America away an acceptance of Slavery. In my youth the southern Baptist pols who were sorry to see lynching go were quick to discover how they would win northern Catholic votes to oppose child killing Abortions. They did this as they joined the Republican Party and discovered that fetuses should be accorded constitutional rights if not health care, maternal help and decent schools.
