Making up their own rules

Arrogant and slipshod. How typical of a JCI directed school board.

The St. Louis County School Board failed to conduct a state-required public hearing before voting to close the Orr School and may have to scrap a Jan. 31 motion that would send Orr students to the Cook School next fall.

Although school officials claim it was an oversight, some speculate the district deliberately avoided the hearing because it lacked sufficient time to complete the process and close the school next fall.

All I know is that when I served on the Duluth School Board we were required to hold such a hearing before closing the Birchwood School. Every District should know the drill.
