In front of the Green screen

A local protest against turning homelessness into a crime.

If you would like to donate to the Welty campaign push my button:

I was reminded yesterday by email that our hometown PAC (Public Access Cable TV channel) had invited me to tape a five minute self intro to my campaign as long as I didn’t ask anyone to vote for me. I signed up for this morning at 10 AM. So I drove down to the City Hall and discovered the small park in front was covered with tents in a protest of our new Mayor’s plan to criminalize homelessness. Very Trumpy of him and maybe why he won the last election.

I snapped this pic:

Then in my five minute intro that I finished up in three and a half minutes (brevity is the soul of wit) I began my mentioning the homeless protest. I had written an outline and pared it down and then managed to remember its path. Once again the PAC folks told me I’d nailed my piece. I got a lot said in a short time and in a week I should be able to post it here when they have it loaded to youtube.

I’d been warned not to wear green because I filmed in front of a green screen. Maybe it will be replaced when broadcast in front of the stars and stripes……although the tent encampment would have been more topical.

When I was finished taping I went to chat with a couple of the protesters. When one saw on my Jabba the Hutt card that I was a writer I mentioned my book. She said she was an avid reader so I went to my car and got her a copy. Maybe she’ll share it with others in the encampment.

This afternoon I checked out my campaign PO box and found six orders for my book each with a little extra for the campaign. I’m rich.
