I just created a new category for my blog today: “Not your Usual Republican.” Normally today I’d be in my first hour of class at my Subbing position but today the roads are slick and its snowing. I’ve got an unexpected snow day to take advantage of. It means I can get an hour of heart rehab in this morning and make up for the Monday rehab I will miss because another school scheduled me to sub for them on Monday….Rehab lasts for twelve weeks after your heart procedure but that is far more than I need considering how easy I had it seven weeks ago.
Yesterday was the first time in my life I recall substituting for a phy ed teacher. I had a blast in large part because I was a fraud. The regular teacher’s credentials are not yet set in stone or the cloud and Minnesota requires a “real teacher” to take over the class after fourteen days. That was me yesterday. But the real teacher was in the gym while I “supervised” him……(made sure I could play with the kids)
I took a picture of the first class after an alien ship headed for Mardi Gras inadvertently landed in our gym and ordered all the kids on board. I wouldn’t have shown you the pic if you could really see the kids…….they are inside the mushroom. Later other classes voted for other activities besides the parachute and I tested my heart when they got out little plastic play scooters
(like mechanics use to scoot under cars) and began pulling chains of them around like Peanuts characters on a frozen pond. It was great fun. I also brought my juggling bean bags (hacky sacks) and juggled all the day. I happily tossed one to a young lady I had a fierce war with when I started subbing. I’m a pretty good peace maker after I lay down the law.
Several kids told me I was their favorite sub yesterday and one of the teachers said I was the best sub he’s had in his class. If I can handle eighth graders, trust me, Deep-state-phobic gun-slinging Trump lovers hold no terror for me. In fact, I think I might have the ingredients to get a lot of them to get back off from the ledge.
So today I will use my time to work on finding an attorney to help me navigate the election laws that have almost no teeth for errant candidates; figure out who will help me report my vast wealth that Congressman so easily augment while in office by insider stock trading; and plan my campaign in other ways. On Friday I will meet with my second UMD Student as I attempt to figure out how to get in touch with the Greta Thunberg generation.
I produced a potential 15 minute podcast yesterday using only my cell phone to do it. So I’ll need to research microphones and how and where to set podcasts up. In the next few days I’ll need put together some books or booklets for possible donations. Just a few minutes ago I thought Critical Race Theory would be a good one…….Few people write more interesting short articles on Race than I do……at least I think they should be of interest.
And I have a lovely Snow day to work. My last post before this one spelled out roughly how I plan to push Congressmen Stauber off his goalpost’s pins. That’s a little inside joke I referenced it in this column a month ago.
Oh, and my French pen pal is sending me a book that will be a surprise. I sent her the book I wrote thirty years that I tried to use to raise contributions for my first campaign for Congress. BTW – If you decide to order this book I will no longer sell it to you for $8.50. That was the 1992 price when I still had 5,000 of the damned things in my garage. Today I may have 200 of them left. All the others I recycled (dumped in our city’s landfill). That was sooooooooo painful. Its a crappy book but if you want it hoping someday to have a little piece of history send me $200. (Only one per customer) And you can read one of the chapters on the link to the book…….My address for payment is still the same. This will not be a donation on your part but a purchase from me the author. I’ll add it in with my subbing paycheck to pay for my campaign. I’ll bet Pete is shaking in his laced up skates to hear that!!!!!
And my French penpal is using my book to add to her English vocabulary. I’m glad the book is good for something.
