Too hot in the kitchen?

This is one email that got through to the School Board. I know because one of them sent it back to me.

Of elephants, mice, and bullies

Members of the Board of Independent School District 709:

The web posting by Harry Welty, at http://lincolndemocrat.com/?p=3281, indicates that the Board, through its attorney, is attempting to stifle comment by Mr. Welty about the recently dismissed lawsuit against the District, in which he was a participant.

Is this a case of an elephant being terrified by a mouse that roared? Is this a case in which the school bully isn’t in the school yard, but is the school?

I suspect that most residents of the District don’t want the District to do whatever it can, but want the District to do what is reasonable. I suspect that Harry Truman would agree that if members of the Board can’t tolerate the criticism about which they apparently are concerned, they should stay out of the kitchen.
