Genealogical Geology

Since me return I’ve been making use of the office I cleaned an organized to within an inch of its life. This is the second day I’ve been sorting through the mountain of family data which has higgaldy-piggaldy for ages. I am doing a rough sort and have very little time to go through each of the folders which have accumulated since before I was married. Unsurprisingly I’ve discovered some treasures I knew I had but which only an effort like this would have uncovered. Above is one such example.

I took a break from writing about politics and the schools to write about vacations since I just came back from a doozey. Nearly a month in France covering southern France rather like my month long jaunt to France three years ago covered northern France. Although I began writing about my experiences I quickly switched to my Dad’s mania for taking his children all over the US. The column titled “Bold Journeys” will be in the next Reader providing I wasn’t too late sending it in.

This is the map my Dad hung in his room which shows where he carted his family from 1957 to 1972. I was in college and playing Republican politics in 1972 and missed his last trip around Lake Superior.
