Ironies Abound #5

SUGGESTION – YOU MIGHT FIND IT EASIER TO BEGIN THIS SERIES OF POSTS AT THE BEGINNING POST #1.

I picked up a lot of support for my campaign to close a high school but until near the end of my school board service I didn’t have the courage to recommend which school to close. Like a typical politician I wanted to hire consultants to make that decision. I eventually suggested something I called the Zenith Plan which would have kept East and Denfeld. That’s not what I would recommend today. Even as I recommended closing Central I was already well aware of its advantages over East High. The only significant advantage of East was strictly political. Few people back then could imagine the Eastern population permitting such a decision. I simply yielded to that reality.

Today, with the selection of the Ordean site as the location for a future high school the Community has finally focused on the pros and cons of the actual sites. In the face of a poorly thought out, hugely expensive, swindle Central High is starting to look pretty good.

Today I’d be very happy to close East High and keep Central High School. I suspect the vast majority of voters would agree with me.
