I’m back – A prologue for three or maybe four posts

I thought I only had one “maybe” post in me today. I intend to ask my daughter if she is willing to let me upload the seven minute “movie” we made with my littlest grandson. I spent a day and a half while in Florida learning how to use my new free downloadable movie editing software. Its very minimal but being an old dog I can’t see myself taking the time to learn how to drive any new software that looks like the cockpit of a jet. First I have to show it to my daughter and son-in-law and they may not want my controversial notoriety to attach to their little thespian. My daughter is protected these days by a new last name. Not Claudia. When anyone asks her if she’s related to me she tells them, “not by blood.”

Upon my every return from a “vacation” for the past forty-one years I have had a routine. I sit down and go through all the old Duluth News Tribunes that had been delivered to my door in my absence. I pull out the advertisements and quickly scan the sports and other ephemeral pages and toss them aside to make the remaining stack smaller and more approachable. Now days this is easier because I read the paper online while I’m away to keep up. There is much less that has escaped my attention. Even so a few things get lost as the Trib’s content changes and I miss some things in the Trib’s links to niche categories.

Two things are worthy of comment from past days and a letter to the editor today is too. I’ll start with that one.
