Eleven million in cuts?

I was stunned tonight to hear on WDIO that even if the lowest request for operational money passes this fall – the renewal of the old levy – the District will be more than $7 million in debt next year. I had thought the failure of the renewal would leave the District $7 million in debt. If renewal fails (its the lowest of three requests being put to Duluth’s voters) the District will have to hack about $11 million dollars off of its programming. That’s more than the District will have spent on the Red Plan this summer. What a terrible price to pay for the Superintendent’s hubris and the Board’s blind obedience.

There will be two beggars on the street corner in the next Steve Lindstrom cartoon.
