The voice Behind the Blog
And a couple more thoughts:
I am a “have.” I am easily able to remove myself from most situations where I might be exposed to the coronavirus. I know damn well I’m counting on both big shot professionals like Doctors to solve problems despite a lousy federal response to the beginning of this National emergency. So to am I indebted to an army of people at minimum wage jobs who are on the front lines because our nation has not seen fit to provide them health care or a decent enough living so that they don’t have to live paycheck-to-paycheck. There is a reason Bernie Sanders has gotten so much traction.
I am an old fashioned Republican who was long ago reconciled and supportive to a government that gave its citizens some protections from the vicissitudes of life. That’s a fancy word for “ups and downs”……like the four horsemen of the apocalypse. People like me and Abe Lincoln have been pretty well purged from the Party for the past twenty years.
No Trumplican can be trusted
to look out after the interests of these people. That included Congressman Pete Stauber. My hero is Abraham Lincoln famous for his dry wit and good humor. Who can forget his taking a little kid with muddy feet and raising him up to walk across the ceiling to leave a set of peculiar tracks? I’m quite happily tracking mud all over the Trump Towers that Republicans have begun worshiping at everywhere.
I take the corona virus seriously but also with a bit of a sense of humor. We don’t have masks at our house at the moment so when I went to our supermarket two days ago I put on a bandanna with Mickey Mouse on it. I’m safe for the moment. I’ve been sequestered 14 days but I’ve heard that even bad facemasks are better than nothing. For workers on the front lines who have no idea whether I’m a viral timebomb or not I decided to put something on to let them know I’m not too embarrassed to show them I take the risks they are taking seriously. My wife is about to make some better face masks out of cotton. When I walked into shop the store’s manager said it looked like I was about to rob the store. He wasn’t wearing his when he said this but by the time he was there to help bag my food he’d put his on.
