I’ve been at my keyboard all day and my shoulders are about to drop off. I’ve fired off twenty or thirty emails. I’ve written a 600 word essay for the Tribune at Editor Washington’s invitation about why Voters should cast their ballots for me. I won’t post to it until the Trib publishes it but I’m quite pleased with it.
I also dashed off a press release this morning before Mel had a chance to return his suggested conclusion. Its too bad I was in such a hurry because Mel had a much better and much less petty sounding conclusion.
As to why the newspaper should include an independent candidate in the debate Mel wrote:
“The wide-spread media concern for giving preference to major parties is a self-fulfilling prophecy. “How do you become a major party? Get five percent in the polls. How do you get five percent in the polls? Become a major party.” If new ideas and people outside the two major parties do not gain media exposure, then we will always have the current two major parties and we will periodically have extreme partisanship like we do now.”
