“We couldn’t have done it without you”

“We won” blah, blah, blah. Email Happy talk from Rick Nolan’s campaign:

Rick Nolan for Congress – A Big Win on Tuesday – and a Big Job Ahead

Dear Harry,

Our campaign made a strong statement last night with a convincing win in the DFL Caucus Straw Poll. Not only did we win, but we earned more votes than the other two candidates combined! We couldn’t have done it without you!

Our message is obviously resonating because people want to matter again in Washington, and they know I will fight for them everyday. That’s why people across northern Minnesota are embracing our campaign and giving us the clear momentum in this race.

Help add to the momentum by making a grassroots donation of $10, $25 or $50 today!

As DFL’ers, we’re uniting on the issues. We are determined to end wars of choice, establish universal single payer health care, protect Medicare and Social Security, re-invest in infrastructure and rebuild our economy to generate the good paying jobs we need in northern Minnesota and across the country.

For those things to happen, we now need to unite behind one Congressional candidate to defeat Chip Cravaack and take back the 8th for progressive values.  If the straw poll is any indication, and I believe it is, we are on the road to the endorsement and to victory in November.

Rick Nolan’s pitch on caucus night was the hoary old idea that by agreeing to abide by the DFL endorsement he was somehow a more credible candidate. Yup, yup, yup. Today’s DNT story says that less than 5% of the voters were expected to addend the caucuses. That sure is a mandate Rick. The other two announced candidates have hedged on on the abiding by the endorsement pledge.

Meanwhile Jeff Anderson has carped about Nolan on his blog saying, according to the same story:

Anderson, 34, took a shot at Nolan’s age in a Facebook posting Wednesday seeking campaign contributions. “The race isn’t about party insiders trying to rekindle the past. It isn’t about getting a fresh start. We need a 21st century leader who will represent Northlanders and their values,” Anderson posted.

Heck Jeff. At least Nolan got elected opposing a costly dimwitted war. You turned your back on the civil war in Duluth over the building of the half billion buck Red Plan which has crippled your city’s schools. That’s a piss poor record to defend.

Oh I forgot. You were on the City Council. That wasn’t your job! Now that’s a great battle cry.
