Sleepless Night

Claudia and I gave up caffeinated coffee six or seven weeks ago mostly to get a good night’s sleep. A week ago it occurred to me that I was sleeping pretty well even in the midst of a campaign where my brain never ceases to wrestle with the immense challenge of coming out from nowhere to unseat political giants.

Last night I was up until 1:30 AM putzing around with my website. I had spent almost five hours simply watching my computer screen as technicians from a remote location manipulated my stuff in my hard drive so that I could post videos to my campaign website. They failed and they will have to give me a call later to continue working on the problem.

I’m very impressed with the way the call centers work now. I used to have to take my limited understanding of computers and explain what I thought was happening to techs who couldn’t see what I was seeing and who spoke a whole different language and I don’t mean Hindi!

Now the techs log on with you and you jump over the edge together so-to-speak. They actually play around in your hard drive and see the same monitor on their screens in India or wherever they happen to be that you see at home. You can both take turns at the controls. You can show them what you do wrong so they can see for themselves the mistakes you are making. They in turn can make the repairs while you watch so that you can get the hang of things as they ought to be done.

But there were no easy solutions yesterday.

I sent an email to my two-man team this morning telling them about the next phase in the campaign. As they involve my website I’ve got a bit of a handicap at the moment. I can make a temporary fix but it is likely to have to be repeated if the technicians come back and figure out my problem. But I want my site up and running now, today whether they call back or not so I’ll do the temporary fixes and then do them over after the Technicians come with a permanent solution. And boy do I hope they find one.

So, I told Mel that he ought to confine himself to sending me editorial suggestions today. He’s the fellow who has slowly and methodically been taking the “tpyos” and the “missspelings” out of my blog for the past week. He complains that I am too prolific but really I’m just too lazy.

Mel and I are heading out to three area fairs and festivals tomorrow and Saturday. Mel is such a straight arrow that he’s planning on abiding by all the rules of the fairs that basically prevent us from campaigning. (Editors are like that) He even told me the rules for jaywalking a couple days ago when we met over at the Miller Dawn Fitness Center.

How can I be a lousy, sneaking, cheating politician with a goody-two-shoes millstone like Mel hanging around my neck? Sheesh!

  1. How can you be a lousy, sneaking, cheating, two-faced, back-stabbing, Machiavellian politician? You’d better hang out more with your campaign manager. LOL

Harry, obviously your political team’s integrity is a handicap to winning in the political arena. Maybe you’d better get real. LOL
