Even the Trib’s editors notice…

…how thin the Duluth School Board Chair’s thinking is:

(I couldn’t find the DNT’s evaluation online) “Not mentioned by Judy Seliga Punyko, the School Board Chairwoman in 2011, was the continuing need for community healing in the wake of the divisive Red Plan, as necessary as the plan and its implementation may have been. She also didn’t mention the Red Plan’s growing price tag in 2011 from $296 million to $311 million, the district’s suddenly depleted reserve fund, the overwhelming rejection by voters this fall of three funding questions, and the ongoing investigation and suspension of Superintendent I.V.Foster.”

It prompted this review in my email inbox:

According to Judy;

“Locally, we’ve been through a period of extreme change, which makes it more important than ever for our schools and our leadership to build community partnerships and to inspire public support.”

She is still expecting some Dixon-style PR to save the day..It seems perverse that they expect Mr. Foster to repair all the damage they have done the past 4 years.

This was my reply:

If anyone were dense enough to believe that poor Supt. Foster could solve the Red mess in five months or that he was responsible for it Judy and the Board might be able to deflect the blame from themselves. As the mess grows it will become apparent even to the Move Forward Duluth crowd that Foster’s problem was being a Sponge Bob band-aid at a time that the District needed a tourniquet.
