The Riderless Horse

I have had to do little to keep my tribute to Renee Good in good shape because of a long run of short days and cold weather. I have added snow to her face but there would come a time when the melting and the many withered flowers and melted candles would become a distraction unfitting for my memorial. Last night I noticed that my second sculpture’s hockey stick and helmeted head were gone I decided I would tidy up both sculptures.

I’m keeping the Honda Pilot up for a couple more days and simply removed Renee. The empty Pilot is like a riderless horse that is led in a funeral processions as a symbol for a departed military commander.

I placed one remaining battery powered candle in the seat where Renee sat. With a little less formality I shoveled my hockey player down the hillside.

Until the car frame melts in a day or two this is what passers-by will see.
