Meanwhile someone is looking at the state GOP…

… with much clearer eyes than David Mamet.

I just caught Retired Governor Arne Carlson on Minnesota Public Radio’s Midday. (It will probably be rebroadcast tonight) He’s the last of the non dittoheads. He pointed the finger at the Chairman of the Minnesota Republican Party, Tony Sutton, who he blamed for causing the defeat of 4 out of 5 Republican legislators a while back because they had the audacity to raise spending on our crumbling transportation system. Tony is now in charge of a Tea Party blinded majority in both Minnesota legislative houses. Arne asked who the hell this Sutton is who runs the state legislature.

Good question. I remember a silent, morose kid from the Iron Range who was the Party’s field man in the Eighth Congressional District. Its not much of a resume to be the man running a state. As a man behind the scenes pulling all the strings he’s pretty much an unknown but he’s exercising more power than anyone other than the Governor. He’s to the Minnesota GOP what the cheka was to the Soviet Army.
