I woke too early this morning, meaning 2:30 AM. When it became apparent that I wouldn’t easily fall asleep I put in my earphones and turned on Spotify to listen to a new French podcast of stories in intermediate French. If I listen too casually I don’t follow well but I listened for two hours before I found my mind wandering. There were simple stories by “Jerome” with minimal tech support and a simple musical beginning and end. I was in a mood for some changes from the months of organizing that were about at an end. I spent two days on organizing my passwords after a couple days organizing the two dozen websites I have connected myself with. That left only sorting out my tax liabilities, my campaign finance reporting my EIN’s and the three banking accounts I’ve set up for selling books and promoting my school board and congressional campaigns.
That final piece should have been yesterday, Friday’s, work but I let the day slip past me so that with a little work I can have that sorted before Monday. That leaves me eight weeks to commence my School Board campaign which means putting up lawnsigns and, if I don’t disappoint myself, sending out some requests for financing the campaign so that I can afford a modest postal campaign. I’ve told myself that if I can’t win the School Board race in Duluth contemplating a fifth challenge to Trump’s dull minded lacky Pete Stauber will be a pointless exercise in futility. Even if that last observation is accurate I’m not sure it will dissuade me from plunking down the $300 congressional campaign filing fee next June.
And a rather marvelous thing happened as I listened to the French podcast. The stories were simple and got me thinking about resuming my own podcasts from three years ago in my 2022 Congressional campaign. I would like to encourage not only US voters to tune in but French listeners who are, like me, interested in listening to calm English topics that might interest them while providing French translations of what I say in English.
As an eclectic and a story teller and a long time political wannabe I think I could explain America to people who must be watching our national trainwreck with as much curiosity as morose Americans like me. I think there may be a silver lining. Trump has made it clear that, in fact, we are not so much an exceptional nation any more if in fact we ever were. No democracy that could elevate a man like Trump should be given too much credit.
That, would likely be my first podcast prompted by the recollections of a woman who as a 13 year old lost her virginity to a 40-year-old Trump who paid no attention to her no, no, no, nos. Her recollections have been read by 400,000 people on Substack and help explain why the
Magan’s who readily viewed Bill Clinton as a sexual reprobate and pal of Jeffery Epstein and were persuaded by Alex Inforwars Jones that Hillary Clinton had used a DC pizza joint for child trafficking. There will be more to say about our new Department of War, and manhood and Nobel envy but I also have some other subjects to post about. I’ll be delighted if I have a text for a first podcast and translate it into French by the end of the week.
