Last post Gold leafed Turd Lickers
Next post I managed to do today’s news summary in only fifty posting minutes
Before church yesterday I started two posts which I didn’t get back to until mid afternoon. The last one which is linked above in the “Last post” link was edited to almost be worthy of my sending it to Substack without embarrassing me too much despite the caustic title. It turns out that today I seem equally inspired to write blog posts. Most are along the lines of a title like this. Democracy’s death by a thousand Trump monkeys making a thousand cuts each in the Constitution.
I could write all day but I want this post to reflect the pleasure I had at the last song that was played at church yesterday. I’m not sure I’ve heard it before It was by a Robert Lowry who I think was born in 1848 so it is not a contemporary song. I enjoyed singing it along with the verses which were projected on a screen at the front of our church sanctuary. Here’s a video of a little more bluegrassy version I found on you tube:
Jerry, an octogenarian who our previous choir director always joked she had to keep his tuneless voice out of our choir that she told him we practiced at 3 in the morning to deter him, asked me in wonder where it was in our hymnal. I agreed with his enthusiasm and said I didn’t know it and doubted it was in ours.
Which leads me to a story on NPR yesterday about a new style of popular music that I will much prefer to rap. Its almost choir like and singable. The song we sang yesterday isn’t part of this genre except in spirit. Here’s the NPR story. NPR https://share.google/Y0M03QjQ3rAeTiuuY
