I am dedicating the next couple posts to my Mom

My mother thought long and hard about the world as did her husband my Dad Dan Welty. Georganne Welty had a scare early in her marriage when she learned Dad was giving some thought to going to seminary. Fortunately for her law school kicked in before that. The last thing my mother wanted to be was a pastor’s wife.

When I asked my Mom whether she believed in Hell her reply was that if there was a hell it was here on Earth. I can’t recall this being part of a long conversation but the idea stuck with me and in so many unexpected ways that hell which has befallen Hitler’s Germany, Stalin’s Russia has been knocking on Trump’s Maga America. When I slow my blogging or writing its often a sign that a lot of things worth writing about have happened. I’ll jump to one of the hellish things on my mind and it will tag along with me during my school board campaign which I have yet to undertake beyond sharing videos and commentaries I’ve been invited to participate in by PACT and the League of Woman Voters and the Duluth News Tribune. Today I put up my first campaign sign.

The primary election is tomorrow but I don’t plan to put up any more signs until the end of the month after our family returns from a week in Orlando. I don’t like hot sticky weather and we have chosen to visit Universal Studios in the worst of it. Only an errant hurricane could make it worse. I’m counting on Maralago to be safe until September.

You will notice I have placed my lawnsign about Trump’s bestial behavior toward migrants just below my modified Congressional campaign sign. Roughly $500.00 spent will allow me to modify many of my existing congressional signs by simply slapping for School Board on the front. That spending doesn’t even require me to submit an campaign spending report – not until I crest $750 dollars in spending. You could quibble that my congressional campaign has donated mega bucks to my school board race but I’m not particularly phased by that argument. I’m telling you my “eight loyal readers” so if and when the Attorney General singles out my extravagance you will know I’m treating the campaign spending law a little cavalierly.

Of more significance to me is the smaller sign parked in front of my masked presence. Its a new sign. Someone stole its predecessor recently. I ordered about twenty of them so the thieves will have to come back if they want to abet the criminal Trump in his mass concentration camp Olympics.

I have a story to tell about that sign. I may stay up late to crank it out. Even if I do I’ll have to give it some thought before sharing it this week. I face no consequences for writing it. That is not necessarily true of the person who has inspired my story.

Among the half dozen things I haven’t managed to post anything about recently was the trip Claudia and I took to Gilbert, Minnesota, yesterday, Sunday. Its a fun story which did not turn serious for me until on our way out of town we stopped at a rest site along Hwy 53 where the Laurentian Divide sends rainfall in three different directions, North to Hudson Bay, East to the St. Lawrence Seaway and South to the Mississippi and the Gulf of Mexico. I looked at the buletin Board which some Magat is likely to report and flipping the bird at Donald Trump but which I took a picture of to show my eight loyal readers.

Mom, Its partly your fault that when things get hellish and I can’t wait for God to fix them I stick out my neck. Thank you.
