I’ll take another helping of crow, please.

Pardon me while I spit out the feathers.

As I attempted to fall asleep last night I started mulling over my scabrous allegation that the School Board had raised its salary since my retirement. My posted allegation turns out to be wrong. I knew I had never received, or declared for my taxes, a school board income of $7,000. I just couldn’t remember exactly how much I received. I knew I’d never received $7,000.

I headed up to my unheated attic this morning and dug through my old tax files under puffs of exhaled air. It turns out Board members were paid $6,480 per year (third highest pay for a school board member in Minnesota if I recall correctly) when I served. The Chair is paid a little extra, something like $50 a month, which when rounded up just cross the $7,000 mark.

I offer my apologies to Dr. Dixon and the Board members for this rash error and my faulty memory. I wish I could apologize for making a lot of other such mistakes but sadly most of what goes into this blog relative to the Duluth School District is pretty much on target.
