Samples (in a plastic bag) of School Board decision making

My analysis of health care expenses 10/19/10 and data request

Dear Mr. Hanson,

My analysis of 10/19 was incorrect because I was unaware of the increase 1/08 and my assumption of dependency/family was independent. I am using your suggestion of annual increases for the past 3 years starting 1/08 thru 7/10.

Mo. single ins…1/2007 516.01 …Family Coverage 1115.75
Mo. single ins…1/2008 593.41 …Family Coverage 1284.10
Mo. single ins…1/2009 682.42 …Family Coverage 1477.71
Mo. single ins…7/2010 846.19 …Family Coverage 1740.00

Total increase……7/10 330.18…………………….. 624.25
3 yr % increase …………..64%……………………….. 56%

I estimate the increased costs the past 3 years of $6.7 million. These increases support the auditor’s statements the past 3 years that medical insurance is a major factor affecting the future financial condition of the District. The District can not sustain these costs annually of $10,154.28 for single and $20,880.00 for family.

Pursuant to the Minnesota Data Practice Act I am requesting the school board resolutions approving these increases for 1/08, 1/09, 1/10, and 7/10. If the school district denies my request, please cite the specific statue, temporary classification, or specific provision of federal law upon which your determination is based.

In the event you have any questions please contact me.

Sincerely,

Richard Paulson

The Teacher’s Union turned a blind eye to the Red Plan while a fearful administration with the help of its blissfully ignorant School Board gave the Union these concessions to keep them quiet about the Red Plan.

One more bonus for Frank Wanner personally is that as the District grapples with growing circles of crisis Frank’s old warhorse the “Quality Steering Committee” composed of some real live teachers gets to talk over the problems with Administrators. Much to Frank’s chagrin, the Committee was a dead letter for over a decade but Dr. Dixon revived it to placate Frank. Its mentioned in the email to the Board. What a benefit for the teachers. They get to clean the latrines…..Oops Sorry, I mean the Augean Stables. Good thing they have such excellent insurance coverage. No deductible for tetanus shots.
