Techumseh

Having finished my second book on native american history in the last month I’m starting two new books. I’ll start Peter Cozzens book Techumseh and the Prophet the Shawnee bothers who defied a nation. Its the Indian end of the war of 1812 which preceded Andy Jackson’s assault on Indians still east of the Mississippi river by twenty years.

Techumseh’s name has always intrigued me because it was the middle name of US Grant’s right hand man William Techumseh Sherman. I read a book about him a couple year’s back, Fierce Patriot. I’ve always been intrigued that his family bestowed that name on their son. It was obviously a sign of considerable honor.

I’ve also started reading Mark Twain’s Tom Sawyer. I just checked this post and decided that Tom Sawyer deserved its own post
