A friend from church read about me on the Duluth News Tribune site and sent me the link as I requested. Despite hopping on the Internet bandwagon in 1999 with my first website followed by a blog which I’ve maintained since 2006 (this one), I find newspaper websites much more distracting than good old fashioned newsprint. I just checked today’s DNT website and couldn’t find heads nor tails of Jimmy Lovrien’s “newsletter” called “The race for the 8th.” Jimmy has written several stories about the 8th Congressional District campaign so far mentioning me challenging Stauber and a John Munter challenging Jen Schultz on the DFL side. Lovrein has yet to interview me as have his paper’s editors but he did quote my blog or weltyforcongress website. I was pleased with his choice of excerpts.

Race for the 8th
Good morning and welcome to the first installment of my newsletter covering the 8th Congressional District election.
Welty, Munter to challenge Stauber, Schultz
Come November, Stauber and state Rep. Jennifer Schultz, D-Duluth, are expected to face off as the race’s two front-runners in each party.
But during last month’s filing period, they each got an Aug. 9 primary challenger. (By the way, early voting via absentee ballot starts Friday.)
Former Duluth School Board member and snow sculptor Harry Welty will face Stauber again in the primary for the Republican spot in November’s election.
On his blog, LincolnDemocrat.com, Welty said: “Republicans are in a fierce contest to see who can hate Democrats the most … Abraham Lincoln preserved the Union. Republicans today are dividing it.”
Welty ran against Stauber in the August 2020 Republican primary, but lost with just 6.25% of the vote.

I was pleased that in the phrase snow sculptor Jimmy or someone embedded a link to a Trib story about my sculpture of Baby New Year Trump. Its a spare story without analysis. For instance the last line about me mentions that I lost the last primary to Stauber with only 6% of the Republican vote. I’ll point out that this was a protest campaign where I confined at home due to covid where I spent my time planning a trip to France for the month of the election. I only spent $300 for the candidate filing fee. Also worth noting Cong. Stauber had not yet betrayed his oath of office to God to protect our Democracy by pretending the attempted overthrow of our government was a holiday vacation by Trump supporters to the nation’s capital. I’ve already spent $6,000 so far and have sent out appeals for future help in the hope of reaching every voter my mail before the election.
Today absentee ballots can be mailed in but I still have 43 days to reach people upset about Democracy and now the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe Vs Wade. These voters best shot at removing Pete is in the August 9th primary. That means voting for me at least once after which they can vote for Jen Schultz of John Munter knowing that the Trumplicans won’t likely vote for me and may not even show up without a traitor to vote for on the ballot.
If Jimmy and the Trib mentioned that or even quoted my last paragraphs last sentence it would be news worth reporting.
