Mother’s Day won’t count – a fund raising appeal

Spending my time trying to figure out how to beat Pete Stauber with his million dollar head start is impinging on my Christmas gift to my long-suffering wife. In recent years I barely managed to cook one meal a year for us. Two years ago I gave Claudia a February birthday gift of one meal a month. This February I upped the ante to double the previous year’s gift – one meal a month plus twelve more. ITS REALLY MORE THAN JUST TWENTY-FOUR MEASLEY MEALS!! Leftovers puts it closer to 50 meals for a 365 day eating calendar. (in theory) But…..

…But as you can see, I am falling behind this year. I didn’t prepare a meal for February and I’ve only gotten one of the twelve extra meals out of the way. Today because I was tardy reserving a nice Mother’s Day meal I told Claudia that I would make her one with my son-in-law. Then I joked that maybe I would have to cook every day in December to catch up so I was glad to do some catching up on Mother’s Day. “Mother’s day doesn’t count!!!” she told me rather too authoritatively. Shucks!

I’ve agreed not to spend more than two thousand of our dollars on my congressional campaign. Don’t breath too easily yet Pete. I’m going to be asking for a little help. Through the primary in August I think $20,000 could TRUMP your million. But I’ll need a few outside contributions. Oh, (boo hoo) the Welty trust took a big tax hit this year and we may end up buying a new second car. Claudia is tired of me galivanting off with the only car we now have. During Covid it didn’t seem necessary to keep both of our cars when one of them went kaput…… But now I really need to do some traveling to campaign. That expense would put us way over our personal $2,000 limit.

No gift to cleanse the stain of Trump from America is too small.
