“Duluth Schools almost half done” in

I loved the headline. After the hemorrhaging District lost 1,600 or so students because of the Red Plan the Trib is walking on eggshells trying to be a good little civic booster for the Red Plan’s promised land. Despite this the now $331 million (not counting interest) plan has gotten very little attention in the Trib. In almost any other community such a vast investment in schools would trigger tremendous weekly news coverage almost all of it positive.

Part of the explanation for the limited Trib coverage must be the Trib’s own hemorrhaging not unlike the self inflicted damage the School Board has brought down on the District. Another explanation is that the Trib knows that the Schools are septic and that their readership is smoldering about the Red Plan. Not covering the Red Plan is a little like the dying Soviet state plying its citizens with cut rate vodka to keep them soused and compliant as the state neared breakdown. Ignorance is bliss. How’s that for a new motto for the DNT? The paper should put it on the masthead along with stories about lost dogs rescued from City Streets.
