I was under strict orders to be quiet in the morning and not to hurry over by the side of the Tan Man’s little brother in the middle of the night if he started bawling. It seems I wake everyone up doing this and since Tan was staying over and had stayed up waaaay past his usual nighty-nite time my daughter and wife wanted to sleep in. Claudia would have charge of both boys for the morning and my daughter would spend the morning at Vacation Bible School.
I always wake up early and today I was going to meet my new dentist since my good old Doc had retired to the ski hills he so loves. I had plenty of time to chuckle over the Editorial Page before my new Dentist introduced herself and encourage me to call her Dr. Mindy…(not her real first name). I joked that that made me feel a little like a seven year old and she joked that in my presence I made her feel real young. Yeah, I guess I’m getting a little long in the tooth except for the molars I grind down. Until my heart recently got in on the action this is where I always worked out my stress in the past.
The Dr. and I got to know each other be talking about her predecessor and my teeth, which were in pretty good condition if you discount their looking more like the Appalachians than the Rockies. She got an unexpectedly hearty laugh from me when she pronounced that I had a small mouth. I told her it was the first time I’d ever heard it described thusly and she somewhat defensively said she was thinking it was too small for wisdom teeth. Well, of course!
So, there you have it. For the duration of the campaign I have a professional on my side and I don’t want to hear anyone complaining about what a big mouth I have.
