Voters need to know a little of the back story of a candidate and there is no better part of my backstory than my reaction to the decision of a new school board, after I retired from it, to rebuild almost every one of Duluth’s public schools just as the Home Mortgage crisis began. I’d been on the Board eight years prior to this and when I learned our Board was going to make the decision by itself without putting the decision up for a public vote I organized a group called Let Duluth Vote. We raised funds from over 2,000 Duluth citizens and took the District to court. The District didn’t win but did manage to remove our attorney from the case.
