$3 million short!

Golly, I just got word that you can expect the Duluth News and Chamber of Commerce Tribune to cover a kind of embarrassing story about JCI tomorrow.

It seems that the big contract (It was about $9 million as I recall) that the Duluth City Council gave JCI to install automatic meter readers throughout Duluth was going save the City $4 million over the life of the contract. Now it turns out that the savings will only be $1 million. Three million has now disappeared as though it was a mirage. (Maybe it was)

Apparently the City and JCI have been holding very secretive mediation talks to iron out their differences over this little discrepancy but the mediation has come to naught. Now Duluth is going to Arbitration with JCI.

Good luck with that City of Duluth. You got off lucky. Just look at the poor School District.

Blogger Falibility Warning: It turns out that JCI’s unfulfilled energy savings promises stemmed from its contract to fix up the Duluth Steam Plant not its automatic meter reading sales. Although, I did hear grumbling about that contract as well last year.
