When I came home yesterday from Montevideo one of my first thoughts was that I really earned the right to skip tonight’s LDV Spaghetti Dinner. Then I remembered I’d promised to sit in the dunk tank.
I threw myself into the work with gusto. I’ve done it at least three times before for school carnivals at Chester Park, Congdon and Grant.
I took on the role of a generic JCI sales man and painted up the sign with my imagined JCI sales slogan. It was something like:
We sell zeroes
$293,000,000
to zeroes
Duluth School Board
Getting dunked was worth every tooth chatter that followed. I asked my fellow LDV folks to make a little movie of my banter harassing the crowd. It it turns out OK I’ll put it on the web.
I came home after the Tan Man was in bed. My daughter and wife were up watching the third movie installment of the Harry Potter Septology, or will that be an Octology? They are preparing to see the upcoming sixth Harry Potter movie.
I read a little story about the Harry Potter phenomenon in Newsweek a year before it hit America hard and put in my first order on the Internet for the British version of the book to read to my family. The British publishing house sent me the book with its British title. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. My son was so taken with the first chapters I read that he stole the book that night and finished it alone in his room overnight.
We’ve all been fans ever since. I’ve read each one out loud all the way through. All except the sixth I’ve read out loud twice. There’s nothing like reading about the forces of darkness to prepare one to deal with Johnson Controls Inc.
Just before posting this I read an email from a Denfeld resident who sent me the cold blooded emails from the District shrugging off the travails imposed upon her by the Red Plan’s work at Denfeld.
I need a wand, maybe holly with a phoenix feather.
