Let Duluth Vote raises 30% of $100,000 bond in three days
Let Duluth Vote began a belated rush to raise a $100,000 bond to secure a temporary injunction on additional Red Plan spending four days ago and has raised cash or pledges of $33,100 or thirty percent of its goal. It has seven days to raise the rest.At present the Sixth District Court has yet to rule whether this will be sufficient to call a temporary halt on new Red Plan construction until the case is heard as scheduled in mid October. Work on the Homecroft and Lowell Schools would proceed unhindered having already been started. Only construction not yet contracted for would be delayed.
The School District contends that a delay could cost several million dollars. Let Duluth Vote points out that its plan which will be presented to the Duluth School Board at this evening’s Committee of the Whole will cost at least $100 million less than the Red Plan thus overshadowing any short term losses a three month construction delay would cause.
