The taxpayer’s attorney, Craig Hunter, predicted after the latest hearing on our case that Sixth District Judge Hylden would rule on all motions this week. I rather expect our fondest hope to be dashed by the Judge and that he will require a bid of truly stupendous size to enjoin the District and stop construction. Having talked Let Duluth Vote into spending about $2,000 for ads in all the local papers this weekend urging donations I may have squandered a precious resource. I think the gamble that the bond would hold at $100,000 was irresistible. Our legal strategy has been impeccable. We wanted a case with legs and we found it along with a lawyer with the chops to singlehandedly put two giants and their team of lawyers on the defensive.
Still, looking at the ad in the Reader Weekly which came out today was very gratifying. If our pursuit of a win in court falls by the wayside the people in Duluth will understand that we gave it our best shot and even though outspent ten to one kept the District and JCI on the ropes.
Now we go on to the Fall election. No Red Plan supporter on the School Board will survive it even if they spend $100,000.
