If you think you’ve seen Duluth School operational cuts in the Duluth School District, trust me,you ain’t seen nothin yet.
According to this story Governor Pawlenty will delay $1.8 billion in K-12 revenue. It will come eventually perhaps a year late. Imagine telling your mortgage company that you’ll have the money in a year and you can imagine what the District faces. They’ve spent down their reserves by millions. They are using operational funds to pay for the Red Plan. Now their state revenue will be hung up for six months.
“Unalotments” also took place in the early 1980’s under the Governor Quie’s Administration. It made him a one term Governor and he didn’t run for reelection. It was finally made up twenty years later when I served on the School Board.
