The Trib’s redemption?

As ill as I feel about the Trib’s coverage of the Red Plan at least its editorial pages permit negative public comment unlike the Chamber of Commerce for which it seems occasionally to act like a newsletter.

And it was gratifying to read Tony Stauber’s opinion piece today which pooh pooh’s the District’s plan.

I especially liked Rodger Pearson’s letter to the editor and his observation about that recent Chamber luncheon:

When I asked about the above items, the reply was that the chamber did not ask for that information. Of course it didn’t. Why tell the complete story? It’s like having a profit-and-loss statement for a business and not listing the cost of doing business on the liability side of the ledger. List only the assets, but no liabilities. It looks great then.

After saying the meeting would go until 1 p.m., the chamber’s Dave Ross abruptly ended the meeting 15 minutes early when people started asking questions relating to the negative impact on the community.

Feel free to copy this to the Judge.
