Some splainin to do

Its always fun to wake up to your own voice on Minnesota Public Radio.

Bob Kelleher did a nice little story about the $70,000 that the Duluth School District finds itself obligated to pay to write up a proposal for a Plan B that no one thinks will ever go anywhere.

Tim Grover got most of the air time explaining how such a bizarre situation could occur.

My wife gave me some grief for my comment that the District would have a lot of “splainin to do” when it went to court. I was being cute and quoting that line from Dezi Arnez from the old I love Lucy show. She thought it wasn’t politically correct meaning I suppose that I might have offended Minnestoa’s Cuban population.

MPR’s written text of the story cleans that all up:

Welty and a handful of others are suing the district and the project’s lead contractor. Welty said the district awarded the hefty contract illegally.

“It was not bid out,” Welty explained. “This was pre-arranged. We think this is clearly illegal, and we think the school district is going to have a lot of explaining to do to the judge.”

MPR is a high class operation.
