A boy like James is very likely to attend Grant or Nettleton Schools two of the centrally located Duluth schools that get the shortest shrift in the Red Plan and especially during its frenzied construction phase.
I went to the all city PTSA (The old PTA) meeting at old Central this morning for two hours. Dr. Dixon came forward and I’ve never heard him have to answer so many questions before. For a solid hour he explained the “Big Fill.” That’s the charming name given the many domino like moves students all across the District will have to make from one school to another as Red Plan construction runs amok.
Here for example is what one of the least objectionable domino options does to kids at Nettleton and Grant over the next five school years.
Under Dr. Dixon’s favored option some Grant fifth graders will have to go to five different schools in five years.
Let Duluth Vote has the “draft” versions of the three current options which were presented to the School Board this morning.
