This article in the Atlantic is sobering. It talks quite persuasively about the stranglehold American finance has on our government and suggests the finance industry will do whatever it can not to sacrifice for the good of the US economy for fear of losing its power and influence. Reminds me of JCI. Both are ruining the neighborhood.
