Our share

With my crude math I’ve done a little calculating about the Federal stimulus package.

On Stimuluswatch.com a record has been assembled of all the “shovel ready” public works projects throughout the US. I printed out the portion that shows projects going to Minnesota. There are only couple dozen cities on Minnesota’s list. the two biggest cities Minneapolis with 1 project and St. Paul with six are asking for next to nothing. There are only 335 Minnesota requests for federal aid in the entire list. Duluth has 104 of them including 7 for the Red Plan. That’s 30% of the federal stimulus package that Duluth has requested.

The Duluth’s school Dist. population at 90,000 is a little under 2% of the State’s overall population. Its requests amount to 30% of the total stimulas spending requests in Minnesota. I expect a howl of protest if Duluth’s schools get their full share of the $75 million in spending that has been requested for the Red plan.

Here’s what the District has turned in for their share of the pie.
