At the Wednesday gathering of contractors salivating over the Red Plan the District laid out its future Red Plan spending. Its $296,034,405.
For those of you keeping track this is three million more than the $293 million we were told about before. In addition about $10 million of the Red Plan has already been spent on the Lakewood and Stowe schools putting the cost of the Red Plan about $15 million above the previously announced costs.
Furthermore, the District still has not been given permission from the Minnesota Dept. of Education to go ahead with about $60 million of the project’s individual school building plans. The District is making extensive changes to some parts of the plan authorized by the MDE and will presumably have to go back to St. Paul to ask permission to make these changes as well as to add the Piedmont elementary and Western Middle Schools to the Red Plan. Oh and they will have to ask permission to spend another $15 million. No biggie!
