I’ve just spent four hours replying to District email – or has it been five?

And then my Buddy sent me this email:

Harry:

From that “third letter”, at http://lincolndemocrat.com/?p=16043:

“I see a School Board doing everything possible to squash competition and options for students.”

I didn’t notice that letter when I circulated comment about the other two letters this morning. However, as I remember, considering your previous reactions to me, particularly about vouchers, you haven’t been exactly gaga about competition for ISD 709.

[your Buddy]

To which I replied:

True Buddy,

I just spent four hours replying to email. I have to pick my fights and right now vouchers are off the table. I have only grudgingly supported them where school districts are in disarray and even there with qualifications.

I am not and never have been a supporter of pure unbridled competition. Its too much like nature red in tooth and claw. I do support our Charter schools although I was not elected to look out for them first. In fact, this would be a good example of cooperation………if our teacher’s union wasn’t so pissy about it.

Harry
