I only just heard about this story in the Hermantown Star. It was from September. 325 or 16 percent of Hermantown students are open enrolled. Any guesses as to where they are coming from. Multiply all the K-6 kids by $3,500 to see how much state revenue this is costing Duluth. Multiply all the secondary students by $5,500 to see how much state revenue we are losing.
If all the Hermantown open enrollees were elementary kids and all from Duluth it would mean that Duluth’s schools had lost almost a million and a half dollars to Hermantown.
That helps explain why Wrenshal and Proctor are sending buses into Duluth.
Will there be any students left to enjoy our brand new schools?
