What we should be talking about instead of the egos and vanity of seven Duluth School Board members got a mention in today’s Trib. The developer who is hoping to help build a new Edison Charter High School is momentarily stymied. If the School Board wasn’t mired down in its own commode it should take this news and run with it to Edison asking the parents there what the ISD 709 schools could do to make their children happy in our high schools.
So much for priorities. Losing another 600 students to an Edison High will just strip another six million out of our District with its fine new Red Plan schools. Watching our School Board antics I can’t blame Edison parents for looking elsewhere for sanity.
Oh, and I notice that the new Edison high is only projected to cost $20 million. That’s peanuts compared to what we paid for, and will continue paying for, our two improved senior highs……..about $50 million apiece.
