An idealist’s job is never done and…

…a request for help.

Perseverance can be exhausting.

A. Tried to teach but was canned three times.
B. Tried to get elected to the State legislature twice before the GOP went haywire but lost.
C. Tried to get elected to the School Board three times but lost, won the fourth and fifth time.
D. Tried to run for the legislature as a moderate Republican distrusted by Democrats and new super “conservative” Republicans twice more, lost.
E. Tried to run for Congress as an Independent twice, lost.
F. Tried to win vote on the Red Plan for four years but thwarted at every turn.
G. Been running to undo Red Plan damage for three months after hinting I might run for three earlier months.
H. I have passed out close to 1,200 flyers door to door and put up about 225 lawnsigns. I’ve posted a hundred thousand words easy since I began campaigning, often in the dead of the night when I can’t sleep. Yesterday a black lab rounded a corner and growled at me. Fortunately I’m not easily frightened. He settled down and licked my hand.

That’s me. I told the lab’s owner that “I take a licking and keep on ticking.” However I am running on fumes and could use a pick me up.

One quick request: I sure would like to see someone write a letter to the Duluth News Tribune telling readers I’ve got more than just dumb perseverance to recommend me for the School Board. You can do it the old fashioned way by sending snail mail to: Letters, Duluth News Tribune, 424 W 1st St., Duluth, MN 55802

or you can email an epistle to: letters@duluthnews.com

Hey! I wouldn’t even mind a good kick in the keister. That would motivate me too.
