Chip C and Congressional Insider trading

As I listened absent mindedly to NPR just now, while reading the DNT, my ears perked up when Chip Cravaack sided with his buddy Eric Obama is Satan Cantor on protecting Congressmen who use their positions of power to make good stock investments from a witch hunting Security Exchange Commission. Sadly NPR didn’t have a link to their story on the Stock Act when I started posting this so I’ll just update this post when NPR’s Morning Edition site links to the story.

Evidently this story got started on CBS’s Sixty Minutes. An earlier NPR story in mid November summarizes the background. I don’t know why the latest story is being held up. Maybe they plan on running it again this afternoon on All Things Considered.

To back off my snarky comments on Chip I’d say his stated desire to further vet the law sounds reasonable. I’m just sad to say that the state of politics today is such its hard for me not to take his immediate defense of his GOP allies as crass partisanship. I see very few Republicans who are willing to deviate from the party line although it is entertaining to watch the GOP Presidential candidates repudiating Ronald Reagan’s “Eleventh Commandment.”
