Incredulity squared

Dr. Dixon doesn’t bother taking news to the School Board first. He goes directly to an even more gullible bunch – The Duluth Trib’s Editorial Board. Friday’s editorial was a real wowser.

According to Dixon the School Board will soon be rolling in dough, $32 million of it to be exact, all savings from the Red Plan’s low bid construction contracts and super, excellent bond repayment plans. If I seem dubious perhaps its because it was only four days ago that the school board passed two separate resolutions to borrow more money, and increase the public’s debt by more than $5 million! And I’m not even talking about the new contract and increases to the District’s operational costs that the Board approved with unseemly haste a year early.

I note that it has apparently never occurred to Dr. Dixon or his star struck fans at the Trib that if there are to be any such savings they might be used to lower the Red Plan’s property tax increases that voters were prevented from voting on. No, this savings will be used to buy more goodies.

A couple of years ago when someone accused Dr. Dixon of attempting to buy “Cadillac” schools he replied sadly that the new Red Plan schools were hardly going to be Caddies. Now he has his chance and with his microphone unplugging supporters at his School Board’s helm its full speed ahead!
